Welcome to Blue Class

Our topic is 'People who help us'

This week we have been learning all about how doctors and dentists help us. We had a fantastic time when we visited the dentist. The dentist showed us and explained how we should clean our teeth.

This week we have been learning all about how fire officers help us. We have shared lots of fire fighter stories and we enjoyed becoming Fireman Sam in our role play.

We were lucky enough to have a visit from Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service and three real firemen!

They told us all about their job and they brought in lots of things to show us. One of the most exciting parts of our morning was exploring the fire engine and spraying the hose!

This week we have been learning about how vets help us and our pets. We were lucky enough to have Helen the vet (Amelia's mummy) come in and talk to us about her job.

We have introduced our new topic 'People who help us'. We thought about the people who help us at home and we painted a picture of them.

As a class we decided to then write a letter to that special person at home to show our appreciation for everything that they do for us. We then linked writing a letter to thinking about how a postman helps us. As a class we went to the post office, we each bought a stamp and then we posted our letter.

This week we have been learning all about Diwali. We shared the story of Rama and Sita and learnt why Hindus celebrate Diwali. We made ‘Happy Diwali’ cards, diva lights, rangoli patterns and we painted patterns on our hands. We also made and tasted some yummy Diwali sweets and we performed a Diwali dance!

This week we have been thinking about weddings. We enjoyed sharing some wedding stories and wedding photographs. We all visited Rev Carol at Mere church. We acted out a real wedding, Owain and Sienna got married.

Back at school we made some tissue paper flowers and we wrote a list of all the things we would need for a wedding.
