A HUGE congratulations to our Year 5/6 football team who took part in this year's Family Football Tournament. With a first half goal from Shane, and an excellent performance from the team, Mere won the tournament. This meant the captain, Linley, lifted the the trophy for the 2nd year in a row. 😀
Congratulations to both teams who took part in the Year 3 and 4 Football Tournament.
Congratulations to all of the children who took part in this year's Hockey Tournament.
On the bright, cold autumn afternoon of November 10th, Mere School played two autumn friendlies against Milton on Stour Primary School.
The Year 5/6 team showed tremendous resilience and team spirit to come back from being 0-1 down to win 3-1, with goals from Shane, Ben and captain Rylan. Man of the match was defender Charlie.
The Year 4 team won 8-1 in their first EVER school football match! Amazingly, two hat-tricks were scored by Travis and captain Oliver P. The other two goals were scored by Callum, who played brilliantly. Man of the match was Sean, who had an excellent game in defence.
Well done to both teams! We march on, so look out for return friendly fixtures at Milton School near the end of January.
Also coming up after Christmas is the Yr 5/6 Davidson Cup 2nd round match.
Congratulations to the Year 5/6 children who took part in the recent tournament at Gillingham. With the help of Mrs Schofield and just a few practices during lunch, the team played with enthusiasm and skill, and came 2nd in the tournament. They will now be put forward to the North Dorset Tournament. Well done to you all. 😀
Mere School entered 2 teams into the tournament this year. The A team came 4th and the B team came 3rd. The A team have been put forward to enter the 'Spirit of the game' tournament for their fair play. Well done to all pupils who took part.
