Mere School Curriculum Statement

At Mere School we believe all our children have the right to succeed, to have high aspirations for their future lives and develop who they are in a respectful and caring environment. Our school ethos is firmly rooted in our school vision - 'We enjoy - we learn - we achieve’

At Mere School, we strive to give children the technical knowledge and skills to thrive in the ever technological world. Our excellent computer : child ratio provides the opportunity for children to acquire independence and competence, which can be applied across the whole curriculum.

We have a vision for Computing in the school, which is reflected in the current provision for children. This comprises of 30 iPads, 2 sets of class laptops, a greenscreen wall, drones, 8 virtual reality headsets and an interactive whiteboard or avocor board in every classroom.

In accordance with the National Curriculum 2014, children at Mere learn to develop skills in communication,  online safety, problem solving, control, coding and computational thinking. They are encouraged to engage in new initiatives (using the latest software) and to discuss and share good practise in ICT. Successes are celebrated along the way!
