Welcome to Blue Class
Our topic is 'Up and Under’
Fire Safety 🚒
We had a fantastic session with the Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue team. The children learnt how to keep themselves safe and what they should do, should there ever be a fire in their home. It was a fun and interactive session, and they loved it!
Mr. Hopwood found out that we know lots of things we can use a mobile ‘phone for!
He told us about the light of the screen that tells our brain to stay awake, so we shouldn’t be on our screens just before sleep.
He showed us pictures he had found on the internet of people we know - even of us and our teachers on our school website, and talked gently about how careful we need to be to keep ourselves safe. We heard a children’s story book about a tale of internet friendship and identity.
At the end he shared four safe rules with us:
1. People you don’t know are strangers, and not always who they say they are
2. Be nice to people on the computer like you would in the playground
3. Keep personal information private
4. If you ever get that uh-oh feeling, tell a grown-up you can trust
It was an engaging session with lots of participation from the children. :)
This week we have been learning about our sense of smell. The children enjoyed guessing the smell and they made some smelly playdough.
This week we have enjoyed learning about our sense of taste. The children tasted a variety of foods and they made their own fruit kebabs, they were yummy!
This week we went to look for signs of Autumn. The children enjoyed collecting lots of leaves which they then used to create an Autumn picture.
In maths we have been learning about 2D shapes.
This week we have been learning about our sense of touch. The children enjoyed exploring paint with their hands and feet.
This week we have been thinking about listening. We went on a listening walk around the playground, we made shakers and we listened to the sound bubbles make.
Blue Class have settled into school life brilliantly.
