This half term, in Red Class, we are embarking on an engaging exploration of Music in France. Through this unit, the children will delve into diverse musical styles and immerse themselves in the sounds of various French songs. This unit not only enhances our cultural capital but also provides valuable insights into French culture. It's worth noting a unique aspect of French culture - a law mandates that 40 % of the music played on the radio in France must be French, 20 % of which must be recent, promoting both language and culture. Red Class will gain a richer understanding of France and its culture. At the end of this unit, the children should be able to express their opinion about different styles which is a skill that will help them as they go to secondary school.
Please note that the 'Music in France' unit was not initially planned for Red Class but Purple Class. However, witnessing the enthusiastic response it generated in Purple Class, I made the decision to extend this captivating exploration to Red Class as well.

Here are the songs we listened to today:
Édith Piaf - Non je ne regrette rien
Soprano - Mon précieux
M. Pokora - À nos actes manqués
Pomme - Pauline
The children already knew the song by Édith Piaf because it is in lots of adverts and films. They particularly liked the song by Soprano today and enjoyed listening to Pomme's voice!
